Plans are underway to build the first-ever lithic pagoda in the premises of the Indiana Buddhist Temple in the United States of America.

It is also envisaged to place many Buddha statues sculptured out of rock according to the historical and cultural traditions at the holy site.

The lithic pagoda is being built under the guidance and patronage of chief prelate of the historic Kotte Rajamaha Viharaya and Lankarama and Indiana Buddhist Temples of America, Ven. Thalangama Devananda Thera.

Not only Sri Lankans (Sinhalese) but devotees of other nationals and religions have also helped to build the pagoda, the prelate said.

Well-wishers from Sri Lanka, Indonesia and America have also supported the project, he said.

Devotees have also joined Ven. Devananda Thera in his religious program ‘Sadaham Charika’ delivered around the world.
